I was born at home, on a diagonal street in an ortagonal city. As a child I faced life from
under the wisteria of my terrace from which I observed five animated courtyards, three inhabited
by well-to-do middle class families, two by artisans and working class families.

From my grandfather I learned to respect people, no matter what their gender, color, property,
credo or ideologies.
|
From my father I learned rigor, honesty, and a love for technology, the curiosity that prevents you
from using an instrument if you do not first know and understand its functioning.
|
From my brother the fascination of knowledge, awareness, culture, the relativity of points of view,
the importance of principles and philosophy in everyday life.
|
From school I did not learn much, with impatience and effort. I learned the rest from life,
the streets, alive, intelligent, helpful people. The only bad thing is the day you don't learn anything. Curiosity is the luxury of my life.

Adolescence, in any case the loveliest years, those dedicated to growing, with plenty of cars, engines, ovens, oils, metals, wood, skins, rubber, windows, offices, TV subscription nr. 0000049.

1969-1978 1969-1978 In nineteen-sixty-nine I was twenty-two years old, my first child, Tobia, was born and so was my first studio. A new concept was being affirmed, at the margins of the world of publicity the idea of institutional communication was developing, meant as the multimedia whole that includes and coordinates graphic design activities, stage Settings, architecture, audiovisuals. Founding an associated studio of young professionals, for the most part university friends, was the first step.

graphics The first clients were chemical and pharmaceutical industries, such as Schiapparelli, Roche, Farmitalia, Plastocoat, but also vintners, food companies and fashion. Coordinated image projects were carried out, from the trademark to the communication strategy. Of particular interest was the collaboration with Roche for the ideation and realization of communication media and training aimed at doctors regarding the use of psychotropic drugs and derivates.

1978-1980 The world was getting smaller and smaller every day. Young nations were asking for recognition and visibility. This challenge fascinated me. A new structure was created with an international vocation, of which I undertook the art and strategic direction for communication. An almost ten-year collaboration began with the Ministry of Information and Culture of the United Arab Emirates. What better terrain for applying my own multimedia coordination vocations on the field.

graphics Ideation, art direction, coordination and realization of information campaigns aimed at different audiences, from investors to political representatives, from international tourist operators to the domestic market. The realization of photographic publications, the publishing of data, series of brochures, posters, slide collections, multimedia kits (prints, videos, slides), collections of objects, calendars and, naturally, logos, trademarks and every other traditional graphics activity.

1980-1985 1980-1985 In addition to the collaboration with the Emirates there was that with Iran, Qatar, Iraq, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Ecuador, the city of Hong Kong, the city of Caracas, the Philippines, Lybia. Multimedia information campaigns were realized for each Body or Ministry.

graphics Presence in different continents, curiosity about the world pushed me to design and realize a series of guide-kits including a photography book, a map, a handbook, a collection of postcards of the major cities of the world, from Caracas to New York, from Turin to Teheran, from Manila to Doha. 1985-1990 In 1985 my daughter Carolina was born. Directing three studios on three different continents was wonderfully satisfying but my world was changing. It is time to return. The computers, the networks, the programs, new modes of communication with oneself, with others, with machines... almost a revolution. Understanding, learning, inventing and continuing to produce this is the theme of these years. Inventing within the studio and exporting new communication systems to the outside world.

graphics Olivetti, GFT, Top Ten, Cotton Company, UNESCO, Filmgo, Unimetal, Idrocentro, Nuovo Stadio Torino, Paravia, Fiat. For each company coordinated image projects, information campaigns were realized that included studies and the creation of company portfolios, product portfolios, series of brochures, monographs, trademarks and logotypes, etc. With UTET a collaboration was begun that ranged from the coordinated image project to the consultation for the creation of new products among which an encyclopedia for children. The creation of the first portfolios for exhibits and museums.

1990-1995 The years of the moral crisis of the administrations and consequently also the economic crisis, but also the years of renewal. Collaborating with Bodies and Institutions, communicating honesty, dedication, the diversity of those who operate in the interest of the public is an interesting challenge.

graphics New institutional clients: the City of Turin, the Province of Turin, Regione Piemonte, Centre Culturel Francais, Lingotto, De Sono and other cultural associations and museums. For all of these clients trademarks, logotypes, portfolios of book series, maps, archigraphy, educational guides, settings were created and iconographic research was conducted. The creation of special media: calendars, monographs, catalogues, trademarks and logotypes for Lancia, GFT, Bertinetti. Projects of magazines and monthlies for which the studio ideates everything from the product to the graphics project, from art direction to the realization for dozens of issues of Alp, Prima Ridotta, Simg.

settings The studio continued collaboration with illustrious architecture studies both for participation in important international contests and the design and setting of exhibitions intended as machines for communication (i.e. Mamenchi & Tzintao) or the one on the restoration project of the Castello di Rivoli 1933-90, from the logotype to the realization of exhibition spaces, from the archigraphy to the lighting design, from the posters to the press releases, from the interior and exterior signage to the facilities for the blind and disabled, from the multimedia system to the soundtrack that accompanies the visit.

new media We were trying to sensitize our clients in all fields of activity, explaining the benefits of using integrated systems and thus we created the first integrated projects of Internet sites, new publishing house products, different work instruments and also projects for encyclopedias, chronologies, educational guides and multimedia dictionaries. Our philosophy from the start was to integrate the new media with the traditional media by making them emerge together in the same environment.

1995-2001 Tobia joined the studio as production director and now there are two Livios. The century will end with the thirty years of activity spent in a puff dedicated to the curiosity about the unstoppable mutations of everyday life. Today the studio is a bit younger than the average ages of its resources (excluding myself!). It is a young company made up of people, designers, architects, engineers, iconographers, art directors, producers, graphic artists. A well-assorted group accustomed to managing highly complex communication projects.

For tourism, portfolios for important tourism initiatives, including all types of graphic objects, from the trademarks of holding companies to menus, from series of folders to hotel soap wrappers, from brochures and annual reports to international press campaigns. new media We realize encyclopedias, chronologies, educational guides and multimedia dictionaries, among which De Mauro, Internet, intranet, extranet, e-commerce sites, webmail, reservation sites, catalogues for UTET, Paravia, Garzanti, Finpiemonte, Telecom, Rai, IBM, CSI, Soprintendenza Archeologica, Athena 2000, Pagine Utili. All highly complex projects integrated with broader communication plans. For each one the studio takes care of everything from the product idea to the art direction, from the interface ergonomics project to the iconographic research, from the software project to packaging the CD-ROMs.
